Winn Dixie Math Night!!
Teachers came to Winn Dixie to hold a math scavenger hunt to show our kids at CTE that math can be rewarding and fun. Winn Dixie provided everything and we provided the kids and teachers. We had fun!
Kids and their parents had to travel the store answering some math questions. Adding, subtracting, multiplying oh my!
They ran around the store and some parents even grocery shopped.
Mom and Dad and Quinn, my former student. Such a beautiful, smart girl.
Leanna and Denny had a great time.
Denny is Superman!
Leanna is a beautiful flower!
Susy, my future student.
Aby had a great time too!

Thursday in Room 52...busy day!
For homework the kids had to bring in something that moves...transportation! 11 kids brought in cars, trucks, planes, etc. They had to describe their "ride" and where would they go if they could really drive it. Their responses were so funny! I would go to Target, Publix, the beach, New York City, or over the ocean. A few said New York City! I say we go on a field trip!
11 students brought in their "ride".
Then we went to the media center. Mr. Goldberg read us a story, The Wall. It was about the wall of names of all the killed veterans in all of our wars in the United States. Emma asked some really good questions. She wanted to know why the little boy was so sad. She also asked if that was real. Mr. G also told us about all the veterans in his family, including his better half, Beverly. His grandfather fought in World War I. He is living history and the kids loved his stories.
After that we had computer lab in the library. It was our first time to check out books and everyone was extremely excited! We will return them in 2 weeks. We talked about taking care of books and not losing them. Parents need to read and enjoy them with their kids. It's through their enjoyment that they get "hooked" on reading. So make it fun and loving.
Yay! We checked out our first books!!!
During math we ordered numbers 1 to 6. Damian did a good job.
We made veteran soldiers today and learned a song. Forgot to take their pictures. Sorry! But the veterans were taken home so please display them prominently on the 'fridge. Enjoy your long weekend! See you on Tuesday!
