Working away!!

Samantha reading a book to the class. They are so proud that they can read that they want to share their new skill with everyone.
Proud of Carolina. She's eating!!! She's had a hard time figuring out American food. All my cutie Cubans are not used to American food and they need their fuel to learn. One down! A few more to go! I guess all kids are picky eaters no matter where they come from.

A special mother's day gift is coming your way! They're excited to finish it and give it to you!!

Today we took a road trip!

We traveled in our own RV today. Where did we go? We traveled to places we've learned about in the good ole USA!! The kids know where these locations are and they know some facts about them. Through the stories we have read they even know how to pack! I encourage all of you to plan a road trip, not just Disney, but to all the places we've learned about. Believe me, they make the best memories and are worth every penny spent.

First, we went to the Space Needle in Seattle, Washington. They know that there is a restaurant at the top and they get there by taking a very fast elevator. The restaurant spins slowly so you appreciate the view.
Next, we went to the White House in Washington, DC. They know that if the flag is visible at the top then it is a sign that the President is home. You can't go up to the door and knock because you must have special tickets to enter.
Next, we traveled to New York city to visit the Statue of Liberty located in New York city! They know that this statue  was a gift of friendship from France. You must also buy tickets online to go inside the statue.
Again in Washington DC we traveled to the Washington Monument. It looks like the number 1. It is a tribute to our first president, George Washington.
Last, we got to go to the Grand Canyon. We visited the South Rim in Arizona. This is an amazing sight and I highly recommend a trip there. It is spectacular!! We had a great time learning all these facts and traveling in our (pretend) RV.
While the rest of the school is still testing we are confined to our classroom so we decided to play a little inside. Mrs. Castro's class joined us.

We are exhausted today! Time to go home! Sorry your kids are a little dusty from our long trip. ;)

A day in the Life

I have these cool rocks that were from my niece, she used to collect them and left them behind. They are like treasure to my kids! I put them out for kids that finish their assignments and they have asked for the magnifying glasses and are observing and collecting data. Some of them even started a book about rocks, moon rocks. Such imagination! I love when they mix genres! (We've also been talking about gravity and planets)

This Saturday my neighborhood will be volunteering to make the Ludlam trail usable and beautiful. Join us if you can!
 Shared Reading.

Glittery putty and pretending. So much fun!
